The Successful
Opening-up of Ulster Program in CCPU
The opening ceremony of Ulster Program was held
in our university on Feb 25, 2005. Present at the opening ceremony
were Deputy President Yangming, Leaders from Teaching Affairs Department,
Criminal Investigation Department and Basic Courses Department,
the teaching staff and 23 students on this program. This is the
milestone for our university to strengthen the international communications
and deepen the influence of our university as an academy for Chinese
police officers worldwide.
In order to adapt ourselves to police work after entering WTO,
deal with foreign-affair cases, crack down international crimes,
take active part in world peace-keeping operations and nurture more
qualified police officers, our university leaders is attaching great
importance to communication at home and abroad. Ulster University
and our university took initiatives to cooperate a joint program
in October, 2002. In May 2004 the delegation from our university
visited course modules, teaching faculty and staff, as well as teaching
facilities of Criminality and Criminal Justice in Ulster University
and reached the agreement to nurture double-bachelor comprehensive
elite. In November 2004, the contract-signing ceremony was held
in our university.
The joint program takes ^2+1+1 ̄ model. The students on this program
study in CCPU for the first two years, during which time they are
supposed to finish required courses by our university and 13 courses
of Criminal Justice and Criminality required by Ulster University.
They study in Ulster University in their third year and are granted
bachelor degree in Criminality and Criminal Justice by Ulster University
if they have satisfactory academic performance. They come back to
CCPU in their fourth year, who will then finish the required courses
and have their internship before granted bachelor degree by our
university. So the students have two bachelor degrees upon completing
four years of study.
The leaders of our university put great emphasis on teaching and
supervising of this program. The 15th of every month is the discussion
time for the teaching faculty. All the teachers on the program,
including two foreign teachers, are devoted to their courses as
a team. Leaders in relevant departments have expressed their full
support also.
